Michael D. Humphrey serves as Counsel in Vishnick McGovern Milizio’s Trust and Estates Group and Tax Law Practice. In this capacity, Mr. Humphrey focuses his practice on contested accounting proceedings of both trusts and estates. When representing trusts and estates beneficiaries, Michael’s knowledge and experience provides him with the ability to carefully analyze a fiduciary’s account to ensure that each beneficiary receives his or her full legacy or bequest. These same skills, when applied to the representation of fiduciaries, serve to minimize risk and exposure to criticism by litigious beneficiaries.

Mr. Humphrey also serves as a leader attorney in Vishnick McGovern Milizio’s Family Office Practice Group, where he assists single and multi-family offices manage their legal, trust and estate, and succession planning affairs. In addition, his practice includes providing legal counsel in the areas of probate; administration; kinship; wrongful death compromises; guardianship; estate planning; fiduciary income taxes; and estate taxes.

Michael returns to Vishnick McGovern Milizio as Counsel after concluding a five-year tenure as the manager of the Fiduciary Accounting Department of a prestigious firm in New York City. He brings with him the considerable experience gained working with some of the most well respected T&E practitioners in the country, representing fiduciaries and beneficiaries of high-net-worth trusts and estates in all aspects of administration, probate, and accounting proceedings.

Michael was admitted to the New York State Bar Association in 2002, and maintains memberships in the Association’s Trusts and Estates Committee. He is also a member of the New York City and Suffolk County Bar Associations.
