Mr. Hornberger’s work is concentrated in residential real estate; his duties include reviewing title reports; addressing title issues with title insurance companies and sellers; attending closings; and reviewing and editing contracts of sale.
Prior to joining VMM, Mr. Hornberger was associated for three plus years with a sole practitioner in general practice located in Roslyn, New York. His duties largely encompassed real estate law (drafting, editing and reviewing various real estate documents; preparing real estate closings); trusts and estates law (drafting, editing and reviewing probate petitions, waivers and consents; inventory of assets; and drafting wills, health care proxies and living wills); and corporate law matters (reviewing shareholder agreements, articles of organization, corporate resolutions and consulting agreements). He also drafted litigation documents including pleadings and motions.
While attending St. John’s University School of Law, from which he received a Juris Doctor degree, Mr. Hornberger was a summer intern for a sole proprietor in North Woodmere, New York, handling real estate and trusts and estates matters, including the sale of many co-ops; drafting and editing contracts of sales and riders; completing verification reports of co-op boards; and preparing closing documents. Previously, he served two summer judicial internships: for the Honorable Andrew Crecca in the Integrated Domestic Violence part of the Suffolk County Supreme Court and for the Honorable Donald Blydenburgh in the Matrimonial Part of the Supreme Court of Suffolk County.
Mr. Hornberger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management from Providence College in Providence, Rhode Island. A lifelong Long Islander and avid fisherman, he had worked as a construction laborer for over ten years and as a golf instructor for adults and youths for several summers before pursuing his interest in the law. Mr. Hornberger is admitted to practice law in New York State and is a member of the New York State Bar Association (Real Estate Section) and Suffolk County Bar Association (Real Estate and Young Lawyers Committees).
