VMM proudly sponsored the Cosmic Con NY & Draw For Life fundraiser comic book, helping raise funds for art-related children’s programs at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Jimmy Fund Clinic in Boston, MA.
Cosmic Con NY is a local comic book and pop culture convention held twice a year at the Tangram Center in Flushing, Queens. With VMM's support, CCNY and Sy Barry's Draw For Life initiative published a convention-exclusive Limited Edition Art Book, with attending artists contributing exclusive art pieces and signing their work for buyers.
5,000 copies of the comic were available, sold for $10 or included with a three-day convention pass. Proceeds were donated to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute/Jimmy Fund Clinic.
Sy Barry is a renowned comic illustrator, known for drawing The Phantom daily comic strip for over 33 years. Together with creator Lee Falk he updated and modernized the character, which at the height of his popularity was read by over 100 million people daily. The Phantom continues to be a household name all over the world.
Draw For Life is a committed group of accomplished artists and fans that recognizes and supports art as an important tool to help hospitalized children and teens cope with difficult circumstances. The group raises funds through comic art auctions at conventions and online, as well as other fundraising initiatives involving the artist and collector community, to benefit the patients of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Jimmy Fund Clinic.
