Constantina S. Papageorgiou is a partner in the
Trust and Estate Practice at VMM, with experience in the areas of
estate administration, and
elder law. She joined the firm as an associate in 2013 and was promoted to partner in 2018.
Ms. Papageorgiou assists individuals and their families with asset protection
and long-term care planning with the use of advance directives and various
planning techniques. She also provides legal counsel to individuals and
families with the administration of estates and the liquidation of assets
after one's death.
Ms. Papageorgiou was
LI Herald “2019 Top Lawyers of Long Island Rising Star.” She is an active
member of the Queens County Bar Association, Queens County Women's
Bar Association, and the Trust and Estates and Elder Law Sections of the
New York State Bar Association. In addition, she serves as a board member
of HANAC (Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee), NHthe Hellenic
Lawyers Association, the St. Demetrios of Astoria Alumni Association,
and is a member of the Hellenic Professional Women Inc.
Ms. Papageorgiou frequently conducts professional and pro bono educational
elder law and estate planning seminars for community organizations, in
both Greek and English, with the goal of informing and motivating individuals
to protect themselves, their assets, and their families. Her audiences
range from high income business owners to young parents to seniors.
Ms. Papageorgiou received her Juris Doctorate from St. John's School
of Law, where she served as president of the Hellenic Law Student Association,
co-president of the Student Hurricane Network, co-president of the International
Law Association, secretary of the Disability Rights Association, and active
member of the public interest committee. Ms. Papageorgiou was also involved
in the Elder Law Clinic, Refugee and Immigrant Rights Clinic, and the
prestigious summer internship at the United Nations Department of Peacekeeping.
She received her Bachelor's degree from Stony Brook University with
a major in Political Science and minor in International Studies. She is
licensed to practice law in New York State.
A native New Yorker, Ms. Papageorgiou’s parents are emigrates from
Cyprus and the proprietors of the famous Zenon Taverna in Astoria, where
she can frequently be found working with her family. She resides in Astoria
with her husband, a medical malpractice defense attorney, and their children.
